Corruption: Kalu calls for Obasanjo’s arrest, prosecution

Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday, called for the arrest and prosecution of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, alleging that he started active corruption in Nigeria’s political circle.
Speaking at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Dr. Kalu pointed out that he wonders why former President Obasanjo was still walking the streets free, stressing that after the reply of his letter by President Goodluck Jonathan, he (Obasanjo) should have been arrested and prosecuted.
According to him, the $16billion power sector fraud was done under ex-President Obasanjo, affirming that he could not even show good leadership as  President during his tenure, adding that he used his position to fight political enemies.
He said: “Well, let me tell you, Obasanjo is part of the problems of this country. The earlier he goes back to his farm the better. He caused all the problems that we are going through. He was worse than Jonathan and any other president of this country.
In 1999 when he was elected President, instead of giving leadership, he went to fight political war. The goodwill this country had, he squandered it, and this is what we are suffering from today because if he had given qualitative leadership without pursuing political enemies, we would have grown.”
Commenting on the resignation of the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamango Turkur, Dr. Kalu said that it was a good development for the Nigerian democratic process.

Jealous Boyfriend Strangles Girlfriend To d***h For Wanting To Marry Another Man

26 year old Ijeoma Nwachukwu met her untimely d***h when she went missing last Saturday January 11th after telling a staff of her aunt that she was going to see her boyfriend, Ifeanyi of over two years.
According to family sources, Ijeoma left home around 9.30 that Saturday morning to her aunt’s shop at the Tradefair complex to help with cleaning. By the time she was done by 4 that evening, she told the other lady she worked with that she was going to meet up with her boyfriend, who had come to the store earlier in the day to give her some kind of chemical to keep for him. The boyfriend then called Ijeoma and asked her to meet him at a hotel called Cossy Hotel at Abuleosun near Tradefair.
That was the last anyone heard from Ijeoma until the police alerted her family on Monday January 13th and told them that her body had been found in a bush near the hotel.
The supposedly boyfriend, Ifeanyi later confessed that he killed her by forcing the chemical, believed to be acid, down her throat, after which he strangled her. Ijeoma’s family say he confessed to the police that he killed her because she wanted to marry someone else.
According to her family, after killing his girlfriend, Ifeanyi fled the hotel in a bike. It was the hotel staff that found her body and got someone to alert the police. But in the meantime they removed her corpse from their hotel and kept it in a nearby bush.
The deceased is from Ngwa, Abia state, while the alleged killer is from Enugu and until this incident, worked as an apprentice for a business owner at Tradefair. The case has been transferred to PANTI from Onireke Police station.

When is it too young to study abroad?

Obviously, the crave to study abroad has been misunderstood to be a get rich quick process. Take a trip to our international airport, (incase you have not already done that) you will be shocked at the rate at which our youths travel abroad all in the name of seeking higher education.
Studying abroad wouldn’t make any difference because if you can kill an elephant at home, you will do the same anywhere in the world.
Different people have different reasons. Wrong reasons can affect your international experience and this can mar your prospect of overseas education.
Some say it is for the rich and i often ask why do you think studying abroad is for the rich alone. Stop limiting yourself and make use of what you have.
When is it too young to study abroad?
I was inside one of the new generation banks in Lagos when this particular family walked in. They came in to inquire on how to open a domiciliary account for their daughter who intended to school abroad.

I was surprised to see that the girl was too tender to be allowed outside Nigeria on her own. This piqued my interest and I started eavesdropping to pick their conversation.
After some explanations from the customer service officer, the little girl was given a bank form to complete.
It was in the process of filling in the form, she asked the customer officer “What is the meaning of LGA” Holy Jesus! I pinched myself.
With the look on the customer officer face, obviously she too was shocked but she had no choice rather she gave the meaning to the little girl. At her age, she doesn’t even know her LGA or home town.
Now I was forced to ask myself, at what age is too young for a child to be sent abroad to study? Should we just send out children to study abroad because we can foot the bill?
For me I think it’s better to allow our children to be accustomed to our ways of life at the early stage before exposing them to strange cultures
